Why WordPress, and free hosted?

WordPress is a program that I have used many times for a simple Content Management Script for my clients. So I am familiar with the inner workings of this software which makes it perfect for keeping a learning log. I was initially going to use Microsoft Word to do this assignment but changed my mind late into week 2. Since the course delves into the world of Web 2.0, I thought it best to use software that fits into this era of web design.

I had the option to purchase a new domain and host it on a server I own, however, I decided to try out the free service that is offered on wordpress.com. So far the process is very simple, a very handy service.
